Ocular spasm of accommodation in patients have following clinical manifestations:
1. After use of cycloplegia, the uncorrected eye vision is different from before use. And dynamic retinoscopy’ shadow is instable.
2. There is a short history of high strength usage of the eyes.
3. MEM check suggests ahead of accommodation.
4. NRA test results show on the low side.
For patients with spasm of accommodation, try to advise the patient attention with eye health, lifting the environmental factors, and the appropriate use of drugs such as cycloplegic agents. If there is little effect, a pair of glasses can be prescribed to patients. One is for distant view, the other is for near. However the patient could choose progressive glasses. This could alleviate the accommodative tension and distant blur vision.
